The Gulf of Sagone is not just about beaches: a few minutes from the coast are the hills, forests and rivers of western Corsica. Here are our ideas for walks, from a leisurely walk to a real hike.

On the banks of the Liamone

For an easy outing, follow the banks of the Liamone River: shade, coolness and pools of clear water where you can soak your feet in summer. Ideal for family or for a quiet end of the day.

Vico and its convent

In the hinterland, the village of Vico and its convent of St. Francis offer a nice stopover, between old streets and views of the valley. A good overview of Corsica from the interior, less than half an hour from the seaside.

The forest of Aïtone and Evisa

Climbing towards Evisa, the Aïtone forest displays its huge laricio pines and its famous natural pools: river basins where you can bathe in the middle of the forest. A refreshing getaway on hot days.

The coastal path

On the sea side, short paths run along the coast around Cargèse and the points of the gulf: hidden coves, Genoese towers and panoramas of the water. Bring good shoes and water, especially in the summer.

Our advice

Go early in the morning in summer, always carry water, and find out about the weather conditions before you start. We are not going to detail all the walks here, there is everything you need on sites like Visorando.
